Pomoć u drvima za ogrijev, 23. i 24. februar 2012.Firewood aid, 23 and 24 February 2012

U teškim sniježnim uslovima ova domaćinstva, u kojima ima mnogo male djece, bila su 20 dana bez ogrijeva, dok dnevne temperature nisu prelazile 0 °C.Responding to an appeal from UNHCR, and in cooperation with the Red Cross of Montenegro, local crisis teams and the Army of Montenegro, ADRA Montenegro delivered firewood to the municipalities of Pljevlja and Berane on 23 and 24 February. In the Roma settlement of Trlica in Pljevlja, 10 refugee families from Kosovo received 20 cubic metres of firewood. In heavy snow, these households, with many small children, had been without firewood for 20 days while daytime temperatures stayed below 0 °C.

The next day, 24 February, residents of the “HELP” building for socially vulnerable people in Berane received 42 cubic metres of firewood, with help from the Army of Montenegro and the Municipality of Berane, which also provided machinery to clear the access road. Because many residents are elderly or have limited mobility, the Army of Montenegro made sure the wood was cut and stacked.

Afterwards, an ADRA representative and the UNHCR coordinator visited Rudeš I and Rudeš II, Novi Riversajd and Balabanda. At a meeting with local crisis teams and representatives of HELP, the Red Cross and UNHCR, lists of the most vulnerable families in Pljevlja, Kolašin and Berane were drawn up and the next phase of food, hygiene and firewood distribution was agreed.
